Avalon Emerson & the Charm have officially announced their highly anticipated second album, Written Into Changes, set for release on 20 March 2026 via Dead Oceans. The announcement comes alongside a new single, “Jupiter and Mars”, and its accompanying video directed by Ben Turok, offering fans an early taste of the record’s expansive sound.
Written Into Changes marks a significant evolution from Emerson’s 2023 debut & the Charm, embracing themes of transformation, emotional growth, and musical exploration. The album was largely recorded between late 2023 and 2024 in locations spanning England and Los Angeles, drawing on Emerson’s experiences of constant travel and life transitions — including moves from Berlin to Los Angeles and New York.
Collaborations play a central role on the project, with longtime partner Bullion (Nathan Jenkins) returning as co‑producer, and contributions from Rostam Batmanglij (formerly of Vampire Weekend), Keivon Mehdi Hobeheidar, Jay Flew, and Emerson’s wife, Hunter Lombard. Emerson has described the album as more dynamic and band‑driven than its predecessor, consciously crafted with live performance energy in mind.
The tracklist features ten songs, including previously released “Eden”, the new “Jupiter and Mars”, and the title track itself — each blending indie‑pop melodies with groove‑heavy rhythms and reflective lyricism. Echoing this creative ambition, the album explores personal relationships, change, and self‑realization over five years of musical evolution.
To support the release, Avalon Emerson & the Charm will embark on a major tour across Europe and North America, with UK shows in Manchester, London, and Glasgow, followed by festival appearances and headline dates through spring and summer 2026.
Written Into Changes is available for pre‑order now on digital, CD, and vinyl formats, with fans already praising its introspective depth and sonic breadth ahead of its March release.
